Haven't been feeling very creative lately due to a Christmas cold (Yuk!) -- but a Fugu sign shot by PAVDW on Flickr brought me 'round long enough to play.
Here, Betty Anne proudly displays her award winning blowfish, Goliath.
Only one texture was used on this, but I had a lot of fun hand-coloring the model for a vintage feel.
Happy New Year, my friends!

Chaparral
I was riding around one day, looking for a new area to catch my eye ... and imagination. This horsepark was in an area of Sylmar, CA which been damaged by this summer's fires. Many of the old trees showed some burn marks but there was plenty of new growth ... and the colors ... !!
I processed this using Flypaper Textures: Caramel Soft & Raw Linen, plus my own new texture: Ankgor

contemplation
This was shot at the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA. It was a cloudy day and although the clouds were reflected in the pool, most of them were hazy. I used only two of my new textures: Atlantis and Nile Basin

Time and the Riddle
A chicken and the egg type of riddle for the hopelessly mystified.

Carpe Diem
Sometimes you just have to wait until the timing is right. I found this dancer a couple of years ago, but I didn't know what to do with her. Several weeks ago, I created the face of the sundial. Then it was just a matter of getting the right elements together -- all of which were in my files. Since the dancer is hand-colored, the number of layers is deceptively large.

The news is full of hypocrites and fear mongers. Unemployment is down but money is tight. So I've been forced to join the millions without health insurance. I need a ray of light -- hope in the storm.
Today's solution: immerse myself in my art ... and tinker with my blog settings.
Don't fall prey to the lies! Read what healthcare reform is all about

Have been reading all I can on the protests in Iran. Although I freely admit that I don't understand the way the government works there, it seems to me that the clerics care more about power than their people if they condone -- and are instrumental in -- rigging an election.
I can only stare with wonder and admiration at the hundreds of thousands of men and women who put their lives on the line by protesting the "results."
The world will not look away.

Frank
Originally uploaded by Telzey
"Frank" was created for a challenge on Flickr's Textures for Layers group. The original house image was donated by Nesster.
For me, the challenge always comes down to thinking outside the box. Here I chose a Norman Rockwell look -- with attitude.
Frank, a graphic artist, lovingly paints the details onto the house ... but where does his canvas begin, or end?

Mathilde knew, right from the start, that Chester was going to be different.
This image was created for the 46th Man Ray Weekly Contest on Flickr. The British bird eggs were donated by Paul Grand.
I relate, rather strongly with Chester. A nonconformist all my life -- I'm always going in one direction when common wisdom says to go in the other. Still, it's worked out so far ....

It's a whole new world
Hello world! I'm Lydia and I'm a full-time photographer/artist/small press publisher/dreamer. (It's harder to be a full-time dreamer than you may think.)
Bending Light is what I do with my photography. As soon as I figure out all the bells and whistles here I'd like to share some of my images with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.
For now, you can see my work on Flickr where I'm known as Telzey, or even -- dare I say it? -- purchase some of my art on RedBubble.
Be seeing you ...
